Then we thought it’d be a good idea to come up with a belting opening act for Campus Party 2013

We’ve been hanging out at the O2 most of this week, keeping a close eye on the goings on at Campus Party Europe, dubbed (by us, as it goes, but it seems to have stuck), “Glastonbury for Geeks”.

Over 10,000 hackers, visionaries, angels, investors, entrepreneurs, the works, have descended on the O2 for a week of debate and computer geekery as they explore what the web might become next.

We were asked to come up with a humdinging belter of an opener for the whole show so we turned to the legendary Beardyman, who, we thought, best summed up a rather wonderful celebration of man and machine. We briefed him to come up with a track that would best capture the “sounds of the Twenty First Century” that would not only give us a cracking opening night performance for the event, but which would also give us some great content to use to pre-promote the event itself.

And so it was that this came about (with 15,000 views and rising at the time of writing) …

That particular story appeared across the media, but most notably on Wired, in METRO (where he did the 60 Second Interview, no less), Rhyme&Reason,ย HuffPo, T3, TrendHunter,ย Contact Music, DJ Mag, Red Lemon Club, Verge,ย Pocket Lint and a host of other tech slots.

Then, come the big night and the opening of the big event, the Beardyman himself took to the O2’s mainstage to put on a show, captured here for all to enjoy …
