Finally making some wearables that are also more than a little fashionable, we’ve been working with Barclaycard and Lyle & Scott …

This week, the Barclaycard team have been busy indeed launching the Contactless Jacket by Lyle & Scott – the most stylish piece of wearable technology in the market today (in our humble opinion).

In partnership with bPay by Barclaycard, the jacket features a tiny contactless chip in the right-cuff pocket, making payments as simple as a swipe of the wrist. Retailing at £150, the jacket is now on sale at Lyle & Scott’s Carnaby Street store and website – one of the first times this kind of innovation has moved from a prototype to a mass-market product on general sale.

Hooking onto the news that the contactless limit increased to £30 this week, we announced the news to media, setting up previews of the jacket beforehand with a select number of key national, technology and lifestyle journalists.

Launching a tech story during IFA week can be a challenge, however this didn’t stop the team who achieved phenomenal results with over 140 pieces of coverage so far including BBC World Service, Press Association, a page 3 belter in the Daily Express (also online, clearly), Daily Mail Scotland, Daily Mirror, ShortList, Huffington Post, Wired, T3, Wareable, Pocket Lint and Engadget.

It’s also been a hit with broadcast with mentions from the likes of LBC, Capital FM and BBC Scotland.

Now if only we could give Blue Steel as well as the model …
