Building the nation’s smallest bar has seen us getting beer drinkers to “make time for it” over the last week

We’ve been having a world of fun on the Meantime Brewing team over the course of the last week or so.

You may have seen that the media has been talking about the nation’s smaller boozer opening its doors? Yeah, well, that was us.

It’s actually something that has been months in the making (well, the campaign has, the pub took about a week!).

Anyway, we’ve spent the past 36 weeks travelling round the country with Meantime Brewing working with six top craftsmen in six different cities who each had six weeks to create something bespoke for the perfect bar.

In return, Meantime has been brewing each craftsman a beer in the same six weeks, showing that time is the key ingredient in making something truly special.

This week we brought all these creations together in the shape of the UK’s smallest pub to celebrate the culmination of the campaign.

Measuring just 6ft by 8ft – smaller than a snooker table and large enough for only two people – the “Make Time For It” (also the title of the campaign, natch) was hand built and furnished with each craft product to create the smallest and the craftiest pub around.

Ensuring patrons make time for their beer, phones must be surrendered to the barman upon arrival before any pints are poured.

Unveiled via a creative photoshoot before the doors were opened to the public, the UK’s smallest pub has definitely caught the idea of the UK media.

Print coverage across the The Sun, Daily Star, City A.M. and Time Out got the whole thing off to a flying start.

Then there’s been national online coverage across the big titles … Daily Mail, Evening Standard, Daily Mirror, Daily Star and The Sun were all lapping up the story.

Then there were the lifestyle and tech titles that took the story worldwide as Mashable, Huffington Post, Conde Nast Traveller, Lonely Planet, Time Out, Olive, SBTV, Concrete Playground and even Hello Magazine and Grazia got in on the action. That was complemented by local media include The Wharf and News Shopper to drive some serious footfall. And there have been trade media hits that have included the Morning Advertiser, Drinks Business, Event, Field Marketing.

Oh … not forgetting that broadcast-wise there have been crackers including TalkSport’s news bulletins, ITV London, the Heart network’s news programmes and LBC, before the final flourish saw Meantime’s marketing director interviewed live on Sky News talking about the campaign.

The pub is now in situ on the Greenwich Peninsula until October 30th. Folk wishing to visit for a beer can book a slot HERE.
