We’ve been helping two giants settle into their new home in a bid to spark conversation about mental health in the capital

As part of London Design Festival, which took place across September, charity Time to Change once again teamed up with multi-award-winning designer Steuart Padwick to create two 16-foot sculptures, with the aim to encourage conversation about mental health.

The two giant wooden figures – entitled ‘Talk to Me’ – interact with passers-by as they approach, voicing poignant and uplifting words which begin to crack the ‘burden’ placed upon them, represented through the release of a glowing light.

The words for these five and a half-metre tall sculptures were written by notable poets, writers, actors and mental health ambassadors including Niamh Cusack, Kobna Holdbrook-Smith, Tom Goodman-Hill, Joelle Taylor, Adam Kammerling and Chris Thorpe.

We took this amazing and important story to the nation’s media, landing coverage in Metro, City A.M., ES Homes & Property, Forbes and The Resident, as well as a feature in Evening Standard’s ‘Best pictures of the day’. This was alongside a healthy spread of regionals and social write-ups as well.

Talk to Me is a hopeful piece, reminding us that through communication with one another, the weight so many of us carry can be lessened, and it’s been our pleasure helping Steuart and Time to Change bring this message to life.
