In honour of International Women’s Day, we gave the entire team the Friday afternoon off to engage to raise awareness of the gender and ethnicity pay gaps.
According to the ONS, median hourly pay across the UK for full-time employees was 7% less for women than for men. While this gap is closing over time, we know more awareness is needed.
So, we encouraged every team member to spend that day engaging with feminist causes close to their heart. From a “Women of Westminster Walking Tour”, to the “Naomi in Fashion” exhibition of V&A to a talk called “Women Leaders on Success, Allyship & Social Change”, and a whole host of other rallies, talks and workshops.
Because when women in full-time employment in the UK are still paid 7% less than their male counterparts, we know action is needed to raise awareness and challenge the status quo.
It was our good friends over at agency Canela who started the “Keep Working For Change” initiative for this very reason, and we got involved again in its second year, seeing our H&Gers roaming across London in search of education and inspiration.
