Last week we finally got the chance to reveal IKEA’s first-ever Christmas ad to the nation, working with Mother and a grime legend to help Brits defy โhome shame’ and silence the critics.
Featuring as a family anxiously awaiting the impending arrival of guests, an array of kitsch ornaments are brought to life via the vocal stylings of D Double E – taunting them about the state of their house courtesy of a kitty-teapot, salt and pepper shakers and toy-plastic T-Rex (obviously).
With anticipation high, we sold the story under embargo to the great and good of the media world – giving the Christmas ad writers a heads up ahead of it dropping โ as well as working closely with the team at IKEA and Mother to field questions and provide comment.
There were spreads across multiple nationals including the likes ofย Daily Mail,ย The Guardianย (online and print)ย Evening Standard,ย The Sun,ย Daily Mirror,ย Evening Standard,ย Metro.
We also landed feature pieces in the likes of the NME,ย House Beautiful,ย Ideal Home,ย Marketing Week,ย The Drum,ย More About Advertising,ย Creative Bloq,ย Little Black Book,ย Campaign Live,ย PR Weekย andย Retail Week.
It was all topped off by a feature of the track onย BBC Radio 1โsย breakfast show in which Greg James proclaimed IKEA winners of the Christmas Ad battle for 2019.
