Having had a little lie down we’re ready to talk about (once again) making official World Record breakers.
We were tasked to come up with a way to launch the latest Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion – also known as Scarlet & Violet – Surging Sparks. To do so we thought it’d be a bright idea to attempt to create the world’s longest ever unboxing livestream. Which would mean that we (well, not personally) would unbox cards for a straight 24 hours live across YouTube and Twitch.
So, it was then that we recruited no fewer than 30 influencers from across Europe to take part in this marathon celebration of all-things Pokémon TCG.
Everything prepped (there was quite a lot of work between idea and activity, but let’s skip the hard part) we were set to go with a studio rig, 20,000+ cards ready to unbox and a marathon ahead of us.
Twenty-four hours later (another hard bit, let’s not worry about that either) and The Pokémon Company International and our gang of European super-fans were world record holders.
Our merry band – taking two hour shifts – unboxed thousands of cards and Pokémon products, and over a quarter of a million tuned in to watch the stream (for which we thank you from the bottom of our hearts) and witness some truly epic pulls, that were then donated to charity.
What’s more there were well over 100 pieces of coverage at the point that we merely announced our plans to have a bash at the record with coverage across the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and well beyond. By the time we were done – what with announcing the fact that Pokémon and our loyal streamers had snatched the record – that total had pushed up to over 600+ pieces across Europe and 200+ posts from our participants – and 1 World Record of course.
