Parents up and down the country have been working flat out since the beginning of Lockdown 3.0 to find solutions to balancing work with home schooling. So the team worked with IKEA to create educational but fun lessons, with the hope that the videos can go a little way in helping to keep kids entertained – even if just for a (valuable and much needed) couple of minutes!
The bitesize lessons cover typical introductory language topics such as geography, family and nature, but the learning is all through the medium of IKEA and its uniquely named products.
From POÄNG to BILLY, IKEA’s product names have long been a talking point for home furnishing fans. But the lessons help to uncover the meaning behind some of these – all of which have been carefully curated from a database of Swedish words.
Hitting the phones the team landed some stellar hits in the Daily Mirror, Daily Star and The Sun print, as well as a great suite of online pieces, including Yahoo! Movies, Yahoo! Finance, Yahoo! Sport, Yahoo! Style, Design Taxi, Trend Hunter, House Beautiful and Reach PLC.
If you’d like to give the lessons a go – either brushing up on your own Swedish or keeping the kids entertained this half term – you can find links to our three lessons below:
