Weโve created what could possibly be the most luxurious takeaway ever for Uber Eats. We teamed up with the UKโs best restaurant and holder of two Michelin stars, Ynyshir, for an ultra-premium, flavour led ten course tasting menu, delivered to the homes of foodies across London.
The restaurant, set in the remote Welsh countryside, was brought to the app to kick off the Uber Hosts series, where Uber Eats brings the countries best chefs and famous foodies to the app for a limited time. The first edition saw Ynyshir create a ten-course tasting menu that dialled flavour up to eleven, using the most premium ingredients possible and delivered in what is quite possibly the most elaborate takeaway box ever.
The menu brought a selection of chef Gareth Wardโs most iconic dishes to London for the first time, including Hot and Sour Crab Soup, a luxurious Lobster Satay, A5 Wagyu beef in black bean sauce, and Atlantic Black Cod complete with a custom-made tin of Kaluga Caviar with a pearl spoon for serving. Itโs fair to say the Uber Eats has raised the bar for takeaway food.
To launch the story, we gave media a sneak preview of the meal, delivering takeaways to The Times and the Evening Standard before hosting some of the countries most respected food journalists at a media dinner. Journalists including the Editor of the Times, Food Editors from Bloomberg, Forbes and The Financial Times were treated to the wonderful flavours of Ynyshir and given the opportunity to see Gareth and his team in action as they prepared the first orders for consumers.
On social, Gareth Ward made an appearance Londonโs hottest food Instagram account, TopJaw, to give a run down of the menu and name Greggs as Londonโs best bakery. Musician turned foodie Professor Green took to Instagram to sing his praises for the menu, calling the Black Cod dish โlife changingโ as he shared the tasting menu with his 830k followers.
An meal as impressive as this deserved an impressive spread of coverage and the The Times obliged, hailing it as the “Worlds Poshest Takeaway” whilst featuring the story on the front page.
The Evening Standard covered the story no less than three times including a video review of the meal, adding โYnyshirโs involvement is a spectacular modicum of commercialisation, reach, and PR for both parties. The delivery app looks almost cool for the first time everโ.
A further 50 pieces of coverage later and itโs fair to say that Uber Eats created the โWorldโs Poshest Takeawayโ and the media well and truly ate it up, making Uber Eats the talk of the town.
