This May, to mark Skin Cancer Awareness Month, the O2 team worked with The British Skin Foundation and Green People to create the ultimate phone accessory, merging mobile phones with skin care.
Inspired by the viral Hailey Bieber “Lip Case,” the limited edition Sun Case makes sure a handy bottle of sunscreen is with you wherever you go, aiming to remind holiday goers to pay as much attention to their sun protection as they do to their mobile phone.
All designed around one key selling point: if you’re on another mobile network you’re going to get burnt by EU roaming fees, but not with O2. With us, it’s free and inclusive. No burns here thank you.
Championing the launch, and sharing her own family’s experience of skin cancer, was Tottenham footballer and Lioness, Bethany England. Bethany posted about the Sun Case across her socials, as well as promoting the importance of skin protection in the 9 interview slots the team landed for her across consumer and national titles.
The news of the launch spread far and wide, with over 200 pieces of coverage secured including 15 national hits. HIghlights included Independent, Daily Mirror, The Sun, OK!, and Money Saving Expert. The free Sun Case, available in selected O2 stores across the UK, quickly became the hottest phone accessory around, selling out across the country within a matter of days.
