This weekend has been a hectic one for the team.
Alongside working to help adidas make sure the host of London Marathon runners we’ve been supporting for the last six months were well taken care of, some of the team also found itself in Yorkshire to help celebrate a little piece of railway history.
In what was a “once in a generation” moment for train fans, Virgin Trains and the National Railway Museum brought four generations of trains together to run the rails together.
There was an iconic HST, and an Intercity ย 225 in the current Flying Scotsman colours.
Then there were two highlights that ran alongside. A piece of rail history – the original Flying Scotsman – steamed alongside a piece of rail future in the shape of the Virgin Trains Azuma which is due to hit the rails in 2018.
Scores of rail enthusiasts lined the route to catch a glimpse of the historic spectacle as all four trains travelled down the East Coast Main Line, side-by-side.
We were there to ensure that the event made national news – and helped Virgin Trains celebrate the impending arrival of its newest fleet of engines – with coverage across theย Daily Telegraph, Daily Express, Daily Mirror,ย The Times, ITV News,ย Sky News, BBC News (including an appearance on the national bulletins).
Then we woke up this morning to find the event splashed across (deep breath) … theย Independent i,ย The Times,ย The Sun,ย The Scottish Sun, the Daily Telegraph,ย Daily Mail,ย Daily Express, Theย Scotsman,ย Metro and Dailyย Mirror (phew!). Not to mention scores of regional pieces.
Perfect result all round!
